Camera Shots

High Angle - Ted
High angles make the object photographed seem  smaller, and less significant. The object or character often gets swallowed up by their setting - they become part of a wider picture. The use of high angle in this image makes the protagonist look less significant at this particular moment. The lighting used is high key lighting making him look glamorous, Costume worn my the protagonist shows that he belongs to a 'classy' background.

Low angles help give a sense of confusion to a viewer, it creates an enigma code. In this shot, we can see that the protagonist looks very powerful, and we can see his posture and his facial expressions, which look very serious. His fists show that he has power. The colour black also connotes a mysterious and powerful side to the character. His costume also emphasises that he is a powerful character. The lighting in this image high key lighting creating shadows, and creating a silhouette. The setting has been faded out illustrating the importance of the character.






Medium shots are used for dialogue sequences, and they allow the viewer to pick up on the character's movements and gestures. In this image, we are able to see the characters body language, as well as their facial expressions. The characters proxemics are close showing that they love each other. The lighting in this image is high key lighting making them look glamorous. Their costume connotes the weather, as she is wearing a coat, their hair is flying. The setting illustrates that they are on a trip, as they are on a boat. 





Long shot shows the reader the setting and the characters body language which can illustrate the key information to the reader. The setting in this image connotes that these four characters have got together for a outing, as it looks like a busy shopping center. All four characters have similar facial expressions which convey that they are all happy, and like they've got together after a long period of time. The costumes the girls are wearing are casual connoting that they have got together just for a catch up. The lighting used is high key to make the characters look glamorous.








An extreme long shot contains a large amount of landscape. It is often used at the beginning of a scene or a film to establish general location (setting). This is also known as an establishing shot. The setting in this image connotes that they come from a rich background as they are at a city. The props illustrate that they characters are up to something, which creates an enigma code. The protagonists are holding a gun, which shows that they are up to something. The fact that they are holding their guns up may show a victory they have achieved. The car also shows that the characters belong to a rich lifestyle. The facial expressions show that the characters are really happy and proud of what they may have achieved. Their body language show that the characters are powerful, as they are standing on a car, also they have their hand raised high. The lighting in this image makes the characters look glamorous as its high key lighting.











Close up shot allows the audience to see the characters facial expressions to illustrate how they are feelings to allow the audience to identify with them. In this imagine we can see that the character is petrified, as she is being strangled we can see that by the use of her gestures. The makeup used in this image shows the paleness of the characters which makes them look mysterious, it also creates a enigma code. The facial expressions of the protagonist shows that she is in pain, and being tortured by an old women who is shown as the villain in this case. The lighting in this image is high key lighting which makes them look glamorous.




Extreme Close Up - Final Destination 5

Extreme close up really emphasises the characters emotions clearly as it is zoomed to a particular part of their body, mainly on their face. This technique is mainly used in horror movies as it frightens the audience. The facial expressions in this image convey that she is confused, and she is scared. High key lighting is used on her face to show the use of makeup in detail, and the rest of the image uses low key lighting allowing the audience to focus on her face as it creates shadows. Her makeup shows the mystery behind her character and the setting creating an enigma code. It confuses the audience to why she has a bright light on her face.
